J Semple-Umsted is an artist that has spent her lifetime working in a variety of media, including oils, acrylics, sculpture and the especially distinct media of batik. She is a descendent of two Choctaw Chiefs and her art exudes the spirit of her Native American Heritage.

Unique. Vibrant. Dramatic.

Semple-Umsted works in such a varied manner that often her pieces elude the observer as to which style is uniquely hers. Emphasis on vibrant color and dramatic design is perhaps the strongest elements of her work.

The art of batik
